Not getting enough good-quality sleep can make you feel cranky, moody, fuzzy-headed, and unfocused. Occasional sleeplessness is not a cause for concern. Most people have problems sleeping in response to a stressful occurrence, an emotional situation, or a temporary upset in their lives. But when poor sleep starts becoming more common than not, it can lead to serious health consequences. Your body needs sleep to rest and repair itself. Many of the hormones your body needs to function properly are produced while you’re sleeping, and like any system that’s not properly maintained, the consequences of ignoring your body’s basic needs can be disastrous.
