Warning Signs of Andropause... and What to Do About It

Have you heard about andropause? Sometimes referred to as male menopause, it does share some characteristics with its female equivalent. But it’s also vastly different. For one thing, while all women experience menopause—even without suffering the classic symptoms—not all men go through andropause. Andropause is characterized by several symptoms that accompany a drop in testosterone levels, but men have varying levels of testosterone, which fluctuate throughout life. When hormone levels begin to drop off after the age of 40, it can trigger a loss of libido, depression, mood swings, and more. In fact, many men with symptoms of andropause simply accept their symptoms as a natural, though unpleasant, part of aging. But there are several treatments that can help, including taking supplements and lifestyle changes like eating right and exercising.
