There is a lot of confusing, misleading information in the food industry today. Foods that are often advertised to be healthy—granola bars, juice smoothies, veggie chips—often have a lot of sugar, artificial additives, chemicals, salt, and calories that undermine their claims to “health.” Food packaging often promotes healthy messaging like “contains real fruit juice” in large, bold print. Meanwhile, the nutrition label lists the truth in tiny letters. For example, the real fruit juice may only be 5% of the entire bottle’s contents. Or worse, the juice might contain overly processed additional ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, which is known to increase triglycerides and boost fat-storing hormones, leading to problems like diabetes and obesity.
